New report: The effect of conflict on the Ik minority in Uganda

The Ik, currently settled in Kamion sub county, are regarded as the most marginalized of all ethnic groups in Karamoja, in north Uganda. Geographically located between rival pastoral Dodoth and Turkana communities, the Ik have for decades been victims of cattle raiding between the two groups. When CECORE conducted an assessment of the situation in 2009, it revealed enormous suffering inflicted on the Ik, prompting it to conduct this study to further analyze the issue. The main objective of this study was to identify existing and potential conflicts affecting the Ik, with the aim of providing information for an Early Warning policy brief.
