Argentina: Radio programme on the Barlovento Group

Alternative content

Indoafroamerica is a weekly radio program dedicated to minority rights produced by Argentina rights organization Casa Indo-Afro-Americana, which has been on the air for more than a decade on Radio Nacional Santa Fe. Some programs are now being made available on line as a collection of podcasts.

The program is about the Barlovento Group, an emerging branch of the global African philosophical tradition, established in 2003 by Afro-descendant leaders of the Andean region of South America.

The binding factor of the Barlovento Group is their awareness of the lack of meaningful recognition of the African diaspora populations in Andean countries whose contemporary social and cultural environment tends to be Eurocenteric.

The Barlovento group is also concerned with the absence of any analysis that questions contemporary cultural realities and goes beyond the existing vicitimization, and seeks to create African descendant self perception from an African perspective.
